How to make it

  • Fill a large, heavy pot or saucepan with about an inch of water.
  • Cover and bring to a boil.
  • Place carrots in a large steamer basket and place over boiling water.
  • Cover and steam until tender, 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Remove the carrots and pat dry.
  • Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add carrots, garlic, basil and lemon juice.
  • Sauté until cooked through and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with pepper.
  • Serve at room temperature or very slightly chilled.
