This recipe is for a simple chili that is unique do to the addition of allspice. This recipe is an old family recipe which came from John Pfaffinger in the early seventies.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1, 6 oz. can of tomato paste
  • 1 quart of water
  • 1 TB chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 medium dried red pepper
  • 8 whole allspice pods
  • 1 TB brown sugar
  • 1 can of red kidney beans (optional)

Directions
  1. Brown the ground beef and onion in a dutch oven.
  2. Drain fat.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and simmer uncovered for 2 hours or until creamy.
  4. Serve over hot dogs on buns. (Or spaghetti noodles)
  5. Top with cheddar cheese.
