This recipe is attributed to Mary Ball Washington, mother of first American president George Washington. She is said to have made this sauce frequently to serve over buckwheat pancakes and root vegetables. Ingredients
- ¾ cup maple syrup shopping list
- ½ cup honey shopping list
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon shopping list
- ½ teaspoon caraway seeds shopping list
How to make it
- In a small saucepan, mix together honey and maple syrup.
- Add cinnamon and caraway seeds.
- Over medium heat, slowly bring to a hard boil.
- Serve hot.
- Makes 1 1/2 cups (8 3-tablespoon servings)
