Ingredients

2-16 ounce cans green beans, drained. I like to use the Del-Monte Blue Lake Whole Green Beans (can use fresh cooked green beans)

10 strips of bacon

6 tablespoons sugar

6 tablespoons vinegar

1/4 cup slivered almonds

Directions

Cook bacon, reserving drippings

Crumble bacon

Add sugar and vinegar to bacon drippings

Layer *half* of the drained green beans in casserole dish

Add *half* the crumbled bacon

Add *half* the almonds

Repeat layers

Pour prepared drippings over all

Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes or until heated through

Okay, nothing else will make this recipe taste like this and give it the flavor, except the "drippings" mixture.. ....sorry. :)

I LOVE the idea of the drippings and vinegar. This is how my Gran used to make beans in Kansas...but I am going to try it with fresh green beans, since they are easily gotten.
