This is my version of a recipe I found in an early issue of Taste of Home magazine. Great for kids' birthdays.

Ingredients
  • 1 box Devil's Food cake mix
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup coarsely crushed cream-filled sandwich cookies
  • Frosting:
  • 3-4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Additional sandwich cookies

Directions
  1. Preaheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease and flour two 8" or 9" round cake pans.
  3. In a large mixing bowl,sift cake mix.
  4. Add milk,oil,and eggs.
  5. Beat for 2 minutes.
  6. Fold in crushed cookies.
  7. Pour into prepared pans.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes or until an inserted wooden toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool 10 minutes in pan the turn out onto wire cooling racks.
  10. Cool completely.
  11. Frosting:
  12. In a large mixing bowl,beat shortening,sugar,milk and vanilla until smooth. Frost cake.
  13. Garnish with additional cookies and crumbs.
  14. Note:
  15. If pressed for time,you can use a tub of vanilla ready-made frosting.
