How to make it

  • grease a 10-inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper or waxed paper. grease the paper and set aside

  • Microwave chocolate and butter in a 1 quart glass measuring cup
  • on medium power (50%) for 5 to 7 minutes or until melted
  • stirring every minute
  • let stand for 15 minutes
  • Process sugar and the pecans in a food processor until ground
  • stopping once to scrape down the sides
  • transfer to a large mixing bowl
  • stir bourbon into the nut mixture
  • add eggs one at a time beating on low speed until blended after each addition
  • add chocolate mixture and beat on low speed until blended
  • pour into the prepared springform pan
  • preheat oven to 350'F and bake for 30 minutes or until set.
  • cool completely in the pan on a wire rack
  • then remove sides of pan. cover torte and chill for 8 hours
  • sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving
  • for the chocoholics the cookbook suggests serving with warm
