DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE CAKE DATED 1867 This recipe came my from my Grandmother's collection that I inherited when I inherited the family collection in 1980. Notation on card indicates this came from Peterson's Magazine, February 1867.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound flour
  • 1 pound currants
  • 3/4 pound granulated sugar
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • Half the peel of a lemon
  • 1/2 pound citron
  • 8 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons brandy

Directions
  1. Whisk all ingredients together then pour into a tube pan.
  2. Bake at 250 for 2-1/2-hours.
