This recipe is the one my Nanny used to make. Very moist, light on the sugar & delicious. I have made other Banana Bread recipes and while some of them have been really good this is the one I always come back to.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of shortning or butter
  • 1 cup mashed bananas [approx. 3]
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • 2 Tablespoons sour milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
  1. Beat together shortning, sugar, bananas,eggs & sour milk
  2. In separate bowl combine dry ingredients
  3. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir just enough to blend
  4. Pour into greased bread pan
  5. Bake @350 degrees for 1 hour .
