A classic but fantastic seared tuna appetizer recipe! This sauce rocks!!

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons prepared wasabi paste
  • 1 teaspoon grated peeled fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 4 (6-ounce) tuna steaks (about 3/4 inch thick)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions (optional)

Directions
  1. ****** DIPPING SAUCE *****
  2. Combine first 10 ingredients, stirring with a whisk.
  3. ****** SEARED TUNA *****
  4. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Sprinkle tuna with salt.
  6. Combine sesame seeds in a shallow dish.
  7. Lightly coat Tuna in Soy sauce.
  8. Dredge tuna in sesame seeds.
  9. Add tuna to pan; cook 3 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness.
  10. Garnish with green onions, if desired. Serve with that amazing dipping sauce.
  11. Try to contain yourself!!!

I made this for a party last weekend.
The dipping sauce was so great and the only thing I did differently was I only seared my tuna for about 45 seconds to a minute on each side.
Like you said,to my desired doneness.
I also served mine with oven toasted wonton crackers. Thanks!!
