Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup shortning
  • 1/4 cup soft butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger ( I like alot of ginger so sometimes I add some grated crystallized ginger)
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream shortning butter and sugar, then add egg and molasses. Mix well.
  3. Sift dry ingredients and stir into batter.
  4. Shape into small balls and roll in sugar.
  5. Place on greased or parchment papered cookie sheet.
  6. Bake 10-12 minutes, being careful no to overbake. Cookies are done when soft, puffy, and crackled looking.
  7. Cool on rack (but you gotta try at least one fresh out of the oven!).
