Oatmeal Masala

- 1,5 dl or a little less than 1 cup of rolled oats shopping list
- 5 dl or 2 cups of water, milk (I use oat milk) shopping list
- 1 tbs of raisins shopping list
- 1/2 ts of cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2 ts of cardamom shopping list
- 1/4 ts of coriander shopping list
- A pinch of saffron or 1/2 ts of turmeric or both shopping list
- A pinch of salt shopping list
- 1 tbs of chopped walnuts shopping list
- A drizzle of honey shopping list
How to make it
- Put the milk (or water if you prefer) in a non stick pot
- Add everything but the walnuts and honey
- If you can afford it, use a pinch of saffron. It imparts a fantastic aroma. Otherwise, turmeric will give your exotic porridge a nice yellow color as well. I use both because turmeric is thought to be a anti-carcinogen
- Bring to the boil (slowly if you use milk -- otherwise it will burn)
- Boil for 5-10 min depending on the type of rolled oats you use
- Serve with the chopped nuts and a drizzle of honey for a little extra sweetness and energy if you like
