Ingredients

How to make it

  • Put the milk (or water if you prefer) in a non stick pot
  • Add everything but the walnuts and honey
  • If you can afford it, use a pinch of saffron. It imparts a fantastic aroma. Otherwise, turmeric will give your exotic porridge a nice yellow color as well. I use both because turmeric is thought to be a anti-carcinogen
  • Bring to the boil (slowly if you use milk -- otherwise it will burn)
  • Boil for 5-10 min depending on the type of rolled oats you use
  • Serve with the chopped nuts and a drizzle of honey for a little extra sweetness and energy if you like
