How to make it

  • Cream butter & 1c. sugar, add eggs & mix well.
  • Stir together dry ingredients & add to butter mixture alternately with lemon juice.
  • Bake @ 350F for 1 hour in greased pan.
  • While bread bakes:
  • Zest the rind from the lemon & squeeze the juice from the lemon into the remaining 1/3c. sugar, and then stir in the lemon zest.
  • After bread has cooled, poke holes all over top of bread with a fork or wooden pick.
  • Pour lemon juice mixture over the top.
  • Let sit at least 4 hours before serving.
