Ingredients
  • 2 Pounds of Ground Round
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 and 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Bagel,soft, grated on hand grater
  • 1 Cup Hot Water
  • 1 Beef boullion cube,dissolve in the water
  • 1/2 Cup finely chopped Celery
  • 1/2 Cup finely chopped Green Onion,with tops
  • 1/2 Cup Grated Carrot
  • 1 Cup Grated cheddar Cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaf,Crushed in hand to release the flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaf, Crushed in hand to release the flavor
  • 1 Pinch of Nutmeg(makes the Ground Round have a Fresh flavor)
  • 2 teaspoons prepared Mustard
  • 1/4 Cup Ketchup

Directions
  1. Mix the beaten egg,pepper,basil,thyme,ketchup,mustard,bagel crumbs together in large bowl.
  2. Pour the dissolved boullion cube into bowl
  3. Mix in the ground round,celery,onion,carrot,cheese,mixing lightly
  4. Place in a oval casserole dish
  5. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  6. Drain the Liquid that forms.
  7. Let set about 10 minutes to allow the juices to go back to the center of the meat loaf.
  8. Slice,serve
  9. Note: may need to use less salt,because the celery has a lot of sodium,along with the bagel,cheese,ketchup and boullion cube.
