Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp Active Dry Yeast
  • 1/2 Cup warm water
  • 1/2 Lukewarm milk (scalded, then cooled)
  • 1/3 Cup sugar
  • 1/3 Cup butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2 to 4 Cups All-purpose Flour

Directions
  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl.
  2. Stir in milk, sugar, butter, salt, egg & 1 cup of the flour.
  3. Beat until smooth.
  4. Mix in enough of the remaining flour to make the dough easy to handle.
  5. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about five minutes.
  6. Place in a greased bowl; turn greased side up.
  7. Cover, let rise in a warm place until double in size, about 1 1/2 hours. (Dough is ready if an indention remains when touched.)
  8. Punch Dough down.
  9. This is when I add my cheese, garlic, whatever flavor I am playing with that day.
  10. Shape, let rise and bake. (preheated, 350 degree oven, about 20-25 mintues)
