Sweet And Sour Green Beans And Carrots Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup chopped carrots, sliced in rounds
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 (9-ounce) package frozen cut green beans
  • 2 slices bacon, or more if you like!
  • 1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1 medium apple (Jonathan, Granny Smith), peeled, cored and cut into wedges
  • 2 Tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions
  1. Combine carrots and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  2. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Add green beans; return to a boil.
  4. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
  5. Drain.
  6. Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp; remove bacon, reserving drippings in skillet.
  7. Crumble bacon, and set aside.
  8. Saute onion in drippings until tender.
  9. Stir in apple, vinegar, sugar and salt; cover and cook 3 to 4 minutes or until apple is tender.
  10. Stir in green bean mixture, and cook until thoroughly heated.
  11. Place in a serving dish, and sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
