75 Year Old Butterscotch Pie

- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 12 tablespoons unsalted butter shopping list
- 12 tablespoons cream shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 12 tablespoons flour shopping list
- 4 egg yolks shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring shopping list
- MERINGUE shopping list
- 4 egg whites shopping list
- Pinch cream of tartar shopping list
- 8 tablespoons sugar shopping list
How to make it
- In a pan, mix sugar, butter and cream together
- Cook until really brown
- Mix milk, eggs and flour together
- Pour into first mixture and cook until thick
- Add vanilla flavoring
- Pour into a *baked* pie crust
- May top with meringue OR
- May top with lightly sweetened whipped cream
- MERINGUE
- In large bowl, add 4 egg whites, pinch of cream of tartar
- Beat with an electric mixer until foamy
- While beating on high, add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time
- Beat until satiny and standing in high stiff peaks
- Mound on filling
- Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned
