Ingredients
  • 6 OZ FLOUR
  • 4 OZ. GOLDEN SYRUP
  • 2 OZ. BROWN DUGAR
  • 2 OZ BUTTER 1 OZ. DRIED FRUIT OR PEEL
  • 1/4 TEASPOON OF BICARBONATE OF SODA
  • 1 EGG
  • 1/4 GILL OF MILK

Directions
  1. MIX FLOUR, FRUIT, GINGER AND BICARBONATE OF SODA IN A BOWL.
  2. PUT THE SUGAR, SYRUP AND BUTTER IN A PAN ON THE STOVE AND DISSOLVE GENTLY.
  3. MAKE A WELL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOUR MIXTURE AND STIR IN THE SYRUP MIXTURE UNTIL THE FLOUR IS MIXED INTO A THICK BATTER.
  4. THEB POUR IN AND MIX UP 1 BEATEN EGG.
  5. WHEN WELL MIXED SPOON INTO A WELL GREASED TIN AND ALLOW TO COOK FOR 1 HOUR AT GAS MARK 6.
