How to make it

  • Pour boiling water over oatmeal and butter. Let mixture stand for 20 minutes.
  • Add sugars and eggs; mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients and blend well.
  • Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
  • Blend all topping ingredients together.
  • Spread on top of cake as it comes out of the oven.
  • Place cake back in oven and broil just until coconut browns. Do not overcook the topping.
