Ingredients

  • My husband bought this book for me about 25 years ago when we were on Martha's Vineyard. We had both visited and/or lived in Japan when we were younger so were familiar with Japanese food. This is still the very best Japanese cookbook I have ever come across. It is the exact style of cooking the Japanese do in their own homes. Simple, easy, everyday fare. The book also has many wonderful illustrations. Also, you would loose weight if this were your steady diet. I always lost weight while visiting Japan and I ate more often than I do at home! I give this book, along with a few other favorite cookbooks as wedding gifts. shopping list

How to make it

  • This book is terrific for beginners too! It is actually out of print but it comes up on eBay every so often and you can get it used from Amazon for about $5.00.

Not only do Japanese women not get fat...but they never perspire even in 89% humidity...and their designer clothes never wrinkle while sitting in crowded subways. I have experienced this humility first hand.

I love learning the art of Japanese Cooking. Have you read the books Washoku ( beautiful photos)by Andoh or Japanese Cooking, A simple art by Tsuji? I actually enjoyed Japanese Women don't get old or fat, by Moriyama, this is the book that got me interested in the first place, before that all I was making was Miso soups.
