Berliner Curry Tomato Ketchup Recipe
This is a supposedly authentic Berlin recipe for curry ketchup. This should satisfy anyone who's been missing Berlin's finest for too long or anyone looking for a spicy/tangy alternative to the store-bought tomato-water.

Ingredients
  • 1 bunch of scallions, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbs grated fresh ginger
  • 1 28-ounce can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground tumeric

Directions
  1. Place a small amount of water in a saucepan.
  2. Add the scallions, garlic and ginger.
  3. Cook and stir over medium heat for a few minutes.
  4. Add remaining ingredients, mix well.
  5. Cook for another 6 to 7 minutes to blend flavors.
  6. Serve hot.

Hey ... what's up Doc? Sorry I couldn't resist. My wife says this is a classic. She lived in Berlin for a year in the mid-90's so she should know. Put in on fries or on wurst. I think I may do both. Thanks again!
