How to make it

  • Pop corn and place in large pan. Combine syrup, sugar, waer and vinegar. Heat to boil add cream of tartar. Continue boiling to soft crack stage 275-280 degreees. Remove from heat. add butter and baking soda and vanilla. Pour over popcorn. Butter hands and form immediately into balls. Yield will depend on size of balls, butg baseball size is great.

    We did a couple extra yummy things....one batch we added a little cinnamon. another batch we did a bit of choc chips, white choc+walnuts....then we did some red hots and a little food color. Just thought we would be a little creative! They are great with the extras too. add as little or much as you like....I don't measure....just eyeball it ;)

    Was so happy to see this recipe. My grandmother use to mix up popcorn balls in a big enamel pan, they were so good but never had any luck duplicating them for my grandchildren, had forgot she used tartar & vinegar. Think this is the recipe I needed, thank you so much for posting.
