How to make it

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water
  • Mix flour,sugar and soda
  • Cut in shortening
  • Over low heat,heat buttermilk to lukewarm
  • Add to flour mixture along with the yeast
  • Mix well
  • Cover and refrigerate over night
  • Turn out on well floured surface, work in additional flour if dough is too sticky to handle.
  • Pat or Roll out
  • Cut with biscuit cutter
  • Place on greased baking sheet and let rise
  • Bake in 400 degree oven
  • 10 to 12 minutes
  • Makes 3 to 4 Dozen Rolls
  • Note:
  • Mixture may be refrigerated several days.
  • If desired,rolls may be baked without allowing to rise.
  • They may also be cut out and frozen.
  • When ready to use,place frozen rolls on greased baking sheet and let rise.Bake according to recipe
  • Frozen Rolls should be used within 2 weeks

    Sounds great for holiday dinners! Make a few days ahead, and then on the big day they'll be just as easy and a lot better tasting than those thaw and rise bags of frozen rolls I wind up using for lack of time and energy!
