1-2-3-4 Cake

This recipe went west with families in their wagons. The name 1-2-3-4 came from the measurements (no one had space for measuring cups so the women used whatever container they had). This cake makes a great yellow cake with icing but my family loved it with a cinammon suger topping and it makes a great coffee cake.
Ingredients
- 1 c. butter shopping list
- 2 c. sugar shopping list
- 3 c. self-rising flour shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1 c milk shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- cinnamon sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350º.
- Grease cakepan (recipe will fill a 9”x13”, 2 8”x8,
- a bundt pan or 2 loaf pans.
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time beat after each.
- Alternate addition of equal amount of flour and
- milk until well mixed.
- Add vanilla beat until mixed
- Fill pans to ¾ mark
- Sprinkle top with cinnamon sugar.
- Bake for approximately one hour.
- When knife comes out clean or cake pulls away from sides, cake is finished.
