"Spirit" balls are a wonderful treat to make as a gift for the Holidays.

Ingredients
- 2 (7 oz.) pkg. pitted dates
- 1 c. pecans
- 1 ½ c. vanilla wafer crumbs
- ¼ c. sugar
- ¼ c. brandy or rum
- 2 tbsp. corn syrup
- Coconut, flake or short cut or bakers dry chocolate powder.
Directions
- Put dates and nuts through food chopper.
- Crush wafers into fine crumbs.
- Mix all ingredients, except coconut, together; roll into ½ inch balls. Roll in coconut or chocolate.
- Place in tightly covered container.
- Let season for a few days.
- Yields 6 dozen.
- You can replace the "Spirits" with apple juice and just add a 1/4 teaspoon of brandy or rum flavoring.
