Strawberry Cookies Recipe

	Omrebel / All my dishes 1 year, 7 months ago Ok, this is a secret recipe I was told but they're great. It's kinda like the strawberry cake we've all made and loved except in cookie form. Ingredients

For the cookies:

1/4 cup shortening

1/4 cup cream cheese

1/2 cup butter (lightly salted) softened

1 1/4 cups powdered sugar

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour

3 tablespoons mashed strawberries

1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

1 teaspoon almond extract

For the icing:

1/4 cup softened butter.

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon strawberry flavoring

2 tablespoons mashed strawberries

Directions

For the cookies:

Cream shortening, cream cheese and butter until fluffy.

Add powdered sugar, mix well.

Stir in flour

Add flavorings and strawberries.

Shape dough into 1 1/2 inch balls.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Press lightly to flatten to about 1/4 inch (or form into heart/strawberry shapes).

Bake at 325 degrees for 12 to 15 mins.

Cookies will not brown.

For the icing:

Combine all ingredients with a mixer.

Spread on cookies as soon as they are removed from oven.

After cookies cool slightly on baking sheet, place them on cake rack to cool completely.
