This is really simple to make. For those of you who are on WIC a great way to use beans:)

Ingredients
  • Small Bag of Dried Pinto Beans washed and sorted
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 large bay leaves
  • water about 1 1/2 inches from the top of slow cooker
  • That's it!

Directions
  1. Throw everything together and let cook for 8 hours on High in the slow cooker. Turn to low when boiling.
  2. When done drain into another container
  3. you can mash them and add bean juice to desired consistancy, or you can eat them unmashed.
  4. enjoy

How simple is this one? Awesome recipe for a basic dish, good going, great recipe Girl!


I never heard of using bay leaves, interesting.


Well I started out with a small bag of split peas and it has turned into "Stone Soup." I added bay leaves then remembered the onion ends I keep in the freezer and added them. Then I found an end of ham and added that. I remembered I liked curry so I sprinkled some of that with black pepper and then figured that old carrot in the fridge might be good... smells delicious. And oh yes, I added a crushed raw garlic clove to it.
