Ingredients
  • 800 g porc, leg, chopped in cubes
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves smashed
  • 1 branch of parsley
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg
  • 1 kg chestnuts, boiled
  • 100 g porc fat (or other...)

Directions
  1. Put everything in a pan except the chestnuts and let cook.
  2. When is almost done, add the peeled chestnuts and cook until is done.

Hmmmm, sounds delicious. How long does it usually take for the chestnuts to be done?


Well Edensong, it takes 30 minutes in boiling water, when you previous make a small cut in the skin.


It's no fun peeling those boiled chestnuts! But worth the trouble. They should be hot when peeled and I find wearing latex surgical gloves makes it easier.


Yes, it's true Decobabe! But here in Portugal we have frozen peeled chestnuts, ready to cook!


Portugal is kinder to the cook than Italy is.
