Cuban Style Grilled Hamburgers
From grizza 16 years agoIngredients
- 2 lbs ground beef (I usually go with 90/10) shopping list
- Fresh gound pepper and sea salt shopping list
- 1/2 Cup Dijon mustard shopping list
- 4 hamburger buns shopping list
- 8 Slices of swiss cheese ( I go with a #1 thickness) shopping list
- 4 Slices of ham (I go with a #2 thickness) shopping list
- 2 dill pickles (1/4" slice like the Dill Stackers) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat the grill to high. Form the meat into 4 (1/4-inch thick) burgers. Season the meat with salt and pepper on both sides. Grill for approximately 4 minutes on both sides for medium doneness. When the burgers are done, remove from the grill and reduce heat to medium-low.
- Sread both sides of each bun with dijon mustard. Place a slice of cheese on the bottom of each bun, place the burger on top of the cheese. Next place a slice of ham, then the pickles and then another slice of cheese, topping with the other half of the bun. Next wrap the burgers in aluminum foil, and place them back on the grill. Using a heavy brick wrapped in foil, press down on the burgers for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Lower the lid on the grill and continue grilling for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the bun has become pressed and firm.
- For a little extra flavor you try the burger with a Roasted Garlic Mayo in addition to the dijon mustard!
