I had this in a restaurant and loved it. So as a newly wed, eons ago, I made this for lunch along with potato salad. Thinking Hub would love it, all I got was a "yeeeech" and a expression of disgust. - sliced tomatoes
- shredded lettuce
- sliced cheese, any you like

Ingredients

1, soft sub or torpedo roll shopping list
1 can of imported sardines in oil and drained of oil shopping list
mayo- as much as you like shopping list
sliced onion shopping list
sliced tomatoes shopping list
shredded lettuce shopping list
sliced cheese, any you like shopping list
Oh I fogot and sliced hard boiled egg too! shopping list

How to make it

Smear both sides of the roll with mayonnaise
Layer on sardines, onions, tomato, lettuce and cheese
Top with other half of roll.
Serve with potato salad and pickles

The taste was very good. I recommend adding a bit of salt to enhance the flavor of the fish as well as the tomato.

Any sliced cheese: swiss, cheddar, American, provolone etc and don't forget the sliced hard boiled egg too! I forgot to list it!

I'm a chicken about sardines. If someone else makes them I eat them but I never do it myself. Maybe I could start with your sandwich.
