How to make it

  • Sift flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a mixing bowl. Cut in shortening. Stir in sweet potatoes. Stir in milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until dough holds together. Turn out onto a floured board. Knead slightly. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake about 15 minutes at 400 degrees.
