- 16 Tbsp crushed hard candies (peppermint swirls, Jolly Ranchers, or any hard candy of your choice) shopping list
- candied flower petals (optional - see post) shopping list
- Veg oil shopping list
- 8 thin popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks shopping list
- 4 metal cookie cutters, wrapped in aluminum foil shopping list
- Tongs for removing cookie cutters shopping list
How to make it
- Make only three or four lollipops at one time.
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Place unwrapped hard candies in a heavy plastic bag,.
- Place the bag inside folded towel and crush candies into small chunks with a meat tenderizing mallet or small hammer.
- Remove candy wrappers and put crushed candy in a small bowl.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and wipe it with a VERY VERY THIN layer of veg oil.
- Place cookie cutters on foil, at least 2 to 3 inches apart.
- Divide crushed candies evenly among cutters, approximately 1 1/2 to 2 Tbsp per lollipop. (Candy layer should be 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.)(Optional - Add small decorative candies, such as cookie sprinkles, or edible candied flower petals to crushed candies. If using flower petals, make sure they are covered with a layer of the crushed candy.)
- Bake in a 350 degree oven for 6 to 8 minutes or until candies are completely melted.
- Cool for 30 seconds.
- Remove cookie cutters with tongs, allowing melted candy to spread just slightly.
- Quickly attach a stick to base of each lollipop (twist the stick to cover lollipop end with melted candy).
- Cool completely.
- Peel foil from lollipops.
