Ingredients
  • 16 Tbsp crushed hard candies (peppermint swirls, Jolly Ranchers, or any hard candy of your choice)
  • Candied flower petals (optional - see post)
  • Veg oil
  • 8 thin popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks
  • 4 metal cookie cutters, wrapped in aluminum foil
  • Tongs for removing cookie cutters

Directions
  1. Make only three or four lollipops at one time.
  2. Preheat oven to 350F.
  3. Place unwrapped hard candies in a heavy plastic bag,.
  4. Place the bag inside folded towel and crush candies into small chunks with a meat tenderizing mallet or small hammer.
  5. Remove candy wrappers and put crushed candy in a small bowl.
  6. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and wipe it with a VERY VERY THIN layer of veg oil.
  7. Place cookie cutters on foil, at least 2 to 3 inches apart.
  8. Divide crushed candies evenly among cutters, approximately 1 1/2 to 2 Tbsp per lollipop. (Candy layer should be 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.)(Optional - Add small decorative candies, such as cookie sprinkles, or edible candied flower petals to crushed candies. If using flower petals, make sure they are covered with a layer of the crushed candy.)
  9. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 6 to 8 minutes or until candies are completely melted.
  10. Cool for 30 seconds.
  11. Remove cookie cutters with tongs, allowing melted candy to spread just slightly.
  12. Quickly attach a stick to base of each lollipop (twist the stick to cover lollipop end with melted candy).
  13. Cool completely.
  14. Peel foil from lollipops.
