Hungarian Boiled Beef Tongue Recipe

Ingredients

1 beef tongue, peeled ( if not peeled ask butcher to do it )

water

bay leaf

salt

Flour as need

Eggs as needed

Oil

Directions

Cover tongue with water, bay leaf and some salt and bring to a boil and simmer until tender about 3 1/2 hours.

When cooked, cool to warm and cut in 3/4 inch slices

Prepare like a cutlet by dipping in eggs and then flour and pan fry to brown.

Serve with a brown beef gravy flavored with paprika.

You are soooo correct about beef tongue. Grew up eating it as when I was a kid eons ago the butchers would give them away. Now it is a gourmet food. DRATS why did people have to catch on to what they were missing LOL I've never fried them as a cutlet but it sounds good. We usually just cook and slice for sandwiches and it never lasts long.
