How to make it

  • Stuff each date with a cube of cheese, wrap with bacon and secure with a tooth pick.
  • Broil each date until bacon is crisp and serve.

  • Alternately I have also added the following to the basic date:
  • Honey and chopped pistachio nuts
  • Fill each date with a nugget size of goat cheese, wrap with
  • proscuitto and chill until firm.
  • At time of service, drizzle platter with a tiny amount of honey and sprinkle generously with chopped pistachio nuts.
  • (I brush the filled dates with the honey and roll them in the chopped nuts to make them stick to the dates)

    I love Medjool dates with cheese, and anything with bacon has my attention!
    This would be great with figs too.

    I mail order 5 lbs. jumbo medjool dates from Dateland in Arizona every October. They are just incredible, but only available right after harvest. Anyway, I'm always looking for something nice to do with them. Gonna give this a try!
