These are the best home-made burgers which kids will love and are much healthier than supermarket/ takeout brands. (Called Shrek burgers because they have a green tinge :)

Ingredients
  • 400g chicken mince (or beef mince works too)
  • 1/2 a small onion finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • small handful oats/oatbran
  • handful chopped spinach/silverbeet
  • handful chopped cabbage
  • sprinkle of flavourings- I use Portugeuse chicken flavour
  • Bread crumbs for rolling in (I use wholewheat)
  • oil to fry in (I use spray oil)

Directions
  1. In a bowl mix all the ingredients except bread-crumbs.
  2. If you have a blender give everything a quick whizz.
  3. Shape small handfuls into flat burger shapes.
  4. Coat both sides with breadcrumbs
  5. Leave them covered in the fridge for 30mins- to- several hours until you're ready to cook
  6. To cook- fry on reasonable heat in a squirt of oil, time depends on thickness.

Hmm, interesting... I wonder if I can sneak this on my no-red-meat-allowed husband... heh heh heh

Being as I'm from the USA I'm needing a little help with your measurements. What does "g" stand for?
This looks like it might be a good one to try:)

G= grams
25g= approx 1 ounze

for this recipe 400g is about 1.5 cups of mince

This recipe deserves 5 forks!!! I'll be making these for my grandsons the next time they come for a visit. I know they'll get a kick out of the name ;) Thanks Philfull!
P.S. I always add oatmeal to my burgers and meatloaf but I've never added spinach or cabbage. Great idea!
Cheers!!!
