Through the Kitchen Door May 1968 - In sharing these recipes from the 60's I must admit that they include poems that I wanted to put here also. I hope you all like them as much as I do.

Ingredients
  • WANTED . . . TIME

  • Time to have my close friends in
  • to drink a cup of tea;
  • Time to read the book of verse
  • my sister sent to me.
  • Time to sort my linens out
  • and stack them in neat rows;
  • Time to look my scrapbook o'er
  • and work with rhyme and prose.
  • Time to bake some muffins
  • for the boy who mows our lawn;
  • Time to listen to the lark
  • at morning's early dawn.
  • Time to cut the pink roses
  • for a neighbor living near;
  • Time to plan the garden
  • I have wanted for a year.
  • Time to breakfast leisurely
  • and scan the paper through . . .
  • Time, just to do the things
  • I really want to do.
  • Blueberry Muffins
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk

Directions
  1. Sift the dry ingredients.
  2. Add the beaten egg, milk, vanilla and melted butter.
  3. Add 3/4 cup blueberries.
  4. Spoon into buttered muffin pans and bake for 25 minutes at 400 degrees.
