How to make it

  • PrĂ©paration
  • Boil milk and plunge almonds, let cook for 5 minutes.
  • take the almonds out and press them with hand to remove skin. then wipe them.
  • in a mixer, pour the previously boiled ( cooled enough) milk to the mixer, sugar, and almonds.
  • Mix it all for a few seconds. the drink should have small pieces of almonds, do not mix until it's all liquid.
  • add cinnamon or flower water, depending on your taste
  • place in fridge for one hour and serve fresh
  • it goes well with Moroccan flaky bread (see my other recipe)

This sounds excellent, refreshing, delicious. I'll have to try it next time I blanch almonds.

    auntybea,
anyone who drinks anything even water during ramadan, it makes their ramadan void.there is no strict and moderate fasting, either you do it or you dont:)

Ah, I see. I recall speaking to a co-worker once While she was fasting and she said that her family consumed liquid during their fast (although sparingly) but not solid food until after sundown, so I was wondering. You are a strict observer then -- I see what you mean about the energy from the almonds. This fasting must be very difficult.

oh no, obviously after you break the fast:)
it's just very common in ramadan to have right before fasting time starts, cause almonds give the necessary energy:)

This sounds very delicious, Assya. You say you have it during Ramadan. Can you have this when you are fasting, or when you break your fast after sundown?
