Houstons Buttermilk Garlic Dressing - My Version Recipe

Houstons Buttermilk Garlic Dressing - My Version Recipe
This is my homemade version of Houston's Restaurant's delicious dressing. It's far closer to the real thing than the other recipe I've seen floating around the web for years.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • 1 to 1 ½ cloves fresh garlic, crushed (minced very fine)
  • ¼ tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper (this is a lot, but it’s necessary)
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 ½ tsp. onion powder

Directions
  1. Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth.
  2. Refrigerate.
  3. The flavor is better after a couple of hours.
  4. This is as close as I’ve been able to come to this great dressing. When compared directly to the restaurant’s version, it seems to lack a bit of an “eggy” flavor, and I haven’t figured out how to add that yet. This is pretty good so far, but next time I'll use Hellmann's regular mayo, or even homemade.

This sounds great!

Sounds like my kind of dressing. I'm going to make it soon.
