Mothers Blackberry Dumplings

- 1 qt. fresh or frozen blackberries ( seedless if you can find them ) shopping list
- 1 cup sugar, shopping list
- 1 /4 tsp salt, shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla, almond or lemon extract shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups flour shopping list
- 1 Tbs sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- dash salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg shopping list
- 2/3 cup milk shopping list
- Cream or whipped cream, optional shopping list
How to make it
- Combine the blackberries, 1 cup sugar, salt and extract in heavy duty Dutch oven or pot.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, nutmeg and 1 Tbs sugar and salt.
- Add milk; stir just until mixed. (Dough will be very thick.)
- Drop by tablespoonfuls into six mounds onto hot blackberry mixture cover tightly and simmer for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in a dumpling comes out clean.
- Spoon into serving dishes.
- Serve with cream or whipped cream if desired.

mmmm sounds yummy....as does the other similar recipe you posted...which one do you think is best? I may have to try both :)
