How to make it

  • Slice peeled onion into almost the thinnest slices you can. Separate into rings and place in bowl. Cover with lots of water. Let stand for 1 hour.
  • In small saucepan mix sugar, vinegar, water and oil. Heat and stir until sugar dissolves. Drain onions. Pour sugar-vinegar mixture over onions. Let stand in refrigerator, covered, for at least one day before serving. Serves 8 to 10.
