This cake is the closest I have come to my grandmothers pound cake. It is wonderful used for strawberry short cake. We just love it.

Ingredients
  • 1 & 1/2 sticks of butter
  • 1 - 1 lb box of powdered sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon of almond flavoring
  • 2 Cups all purpose flour

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees
  2. Cream butter and sugar
  3. Add eggs one at a time, vanilla, and almond flavoring
  4. Sift flour and add
  5. Mix until smooth
  6. Pour into a greased and floured bunt or tube pan, mixture will be thick so smooth out to fill any gaps
  7. Bake for 1 hour, 20 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean
