How to make it

  • Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour two or three 9-inch cake pans. Three pans makes each layer rather thin, but they bake fast.
  • In large bowl cream together butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs. Mix until well combined.
  • Sift together cocoa, flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  • Add to butter mixture alternately with the milk.
  • Divide batter into pans. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes.
  • Frosting:
  • Whip butter until creamy. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding milk or powdered sugar.

    I don't have a chocolate cake recipe that I am happy with. This looks good and I like using cocoa. It will be my next chocolate cake.
