Shellys Church Cookbook Chocolate Cake

- 1 cup butter shopping list
- 1 3/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 TBSP vanilla shopping list
- 3 large eggs shopping list
- 1 cup cocoa shopping list
- 2 1/4 cups flour shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 3/4 cup milk shopping list
- Frosting: shopping list
- 1 cup butter shopping list
- 4 cups powdered sugar shopping list
- 3/4 cup cocoa shopping list
- 2 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 4-6 TBSP milk shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour two or three 9-inch cake pans. Three pans makes each layer rather thin, but they bake fast.
- In large bowl cream together butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs. Mix until well combined.
- Sift together cocoa, flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
- Add to butter mixture alternately with the milk.
- Divide batter into pans. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes.
- Frosting:
- Whip butter until creamy. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth.
- Adjust the consistency by adding milk or powdered sugar.
