How to make it

  • Sift cake mix into a large mixing bowl.
  • Add coffee,eggs,oil,and buttermilk.
  • Beat on medium speed for 4 minutes.
  • Pour batter into a greased and floured 9" x 13" x 2" baking pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool on wire rack.
  • Frosting:
  • In a medium saucepan,combine brown sugar,milk,butter and salt.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until mixture reaches 235 degrees(soft ball stage).
  • Cool completely.
  • Transfer to mixing bowl and beat in sugar,cream,and vanilla.
  • Continue beating until mixture becomes spreadable.
  • Spread frosting over cooled cake.

    That sounds like a "heavenly" caramel frosting, perfect for chocolate cake (and I would even love it on my favorite white cake!)...gotta try this - sounds a bit sinful, just the way I like it!!
