How to make it

  • Have lard (shortening) at room temperature, put in bowl and add boiling water.
  • Stir with a fork until creamy.
  • Add flour, sifted with salt and baking powder
  • chill
  • Makes one two crust pie

    I still use crisco, you just can't beat it for pie crusts, biscuits and cornbread! I remember my grandmother having those big buckets of lard. Fantastic post!
