When you steam the asparagus and it is still slighty firm- the slight crunch contrasts wonderfully with the oozing melted cheese...............

Sounds like dinner tomorrow (gonna be HOT here)! I don't have a panini maker but the plates for my waffle iron are two sided and I use the smooth side for grilled sandwiches (it's how I make my Reuben sandwiches). It does everything exactly like a panini machine except the grill lines.
