How to make it

  • In your slow cooker, add the onions and the melted margarine
  • Cover and cook on high for 30-35 minutes until the onions get a litte brown around the edges
  • In a small bowl. blend the flour, sugar, pepper and worchestshire sauce and a litte bit of broth until it forms a paste ( or close to it)
  • Stir the flour mixture and broth into the crockpot with onions
  • Cover: cook on low for 7-9 hoursor high for 3 -4 hours
  • About 10 minutes before serving, place bread on a broiler pan and sprinkle with the mozza and parmesan cheese
  • (I may try next time to put the bread and soup in the oven under broil for more flavor)
  • Broil until the cheese is bubbly
  • Top individual servings of soup with 1 slice and serve
