Crockpot French Onion Soup With Cheesy Bread

- 3 large onions, sliced then havled ( about 3 cups) shopping list
- 3 tbsp margarine, melted shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- 1/4 pepper ( or how much you would like) shopping list
- 1 tbsp worchestershire sauce shopping list
- 4 (14oz) cans of beef broth shopping list
- 8 ( 1 inch thick) slices of French bread shopping list
- 3 oz ( 3/4 cup) shredded mozza cheese ( I bet swiss would be nice ) I just added enough cheese to my likeing shopping list
- 2 tbsp parmesan cheese shopping list
- *** I cut this recipe in half to serve 2-3 people*** shopping list
How to make it
- In your slow cooker, add the onions and the melted margarine
- Cover and cook on high for 30-35 minutes until the onions get a litte brown around the edges
- In a small bowl. blend the flour, sugar, pepper and worchestshire sauce and a litte bit of broth until it forms a paste ( or close to it)
- Stir the flour mixture and broth into the crockpot with onions
- Cover: cook on low for 7-9 hoursor high for 3 -4 hours
- About 10 minutes before serving, place bread on a broiler pan and sprinkle with the mozza and parmesan cheese
- (I may try next time to put the bread and soup in the oven under broil for more flavor)
- Broil until the cheese is bubbly
- Top individual servings of soup with 1 slice and serve
