Ginger Cream Cookies

- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1/2 cup molasses shopping list
- 1/3 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 2 cups all-purpose flour* or whole wheat flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon shopping list
- *If using self-rising flour, omit salt and baking soda. shopping list
How to make it
- Mix sugar, water, molasses, shortening and egg.
- Stir in remaining ingredients.
- Cover; refrigerate 1 hour.
- Heat oven to 400 degrees.
- Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased
- cookie sheet.
- Bake until almost no indentation remains when touched, about 8 minutes.
- Immediately remove from cookie sheet; cool.
- Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
