Ingredients

2 cups corn meal (I prefer white)

1 cup flour

2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon soda

2 eggs

1 small grated onion

Buttermilk, about 1 cup

TO WAKE UP THE PUP ADD

1 tablespoon minced jarred jalapenos OR fresh if you prefer

Directions

In a bowl, blend all the wet ingredients

Slowly add the dry, mixing well

Be sure the batter is the consistency of thick cake batter

I prefer Crisco, but have your choice of oil hot and ready

Drop by teaspoons into the hot skillet, I prefer iron

Brown until golden turning once

Drain on paper towel
