How to make it

  • Slice all the veggies VERY thinly. Add salt & let stand overnight to drain. (My mom did this right in the wooden peck basket & swears the wood taste added a certain something to the taste - I agree, but you can't find a wooden peck basket anymore. Somehow I don't think all those wet ingredients would be very appealing the next morning after sitting in one of those cardboard peck containers they have today. Yecccch!) (i.e., use a colander!)
  • After sitting overnight (the veggies, not you!) add the veggies and the rest of the ingredients to a large pot. Boil 30 minutes & put into sterilized jars & seal.
