Cherry Squares

My mom made these when i was a kid. I havent had them in years, but they are so good. Guess I will have to make them very soon! Maybe tongiht!!! :)
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter / margarine shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 4 eggs, beaten shopping list
- 2 cups sifted all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 tsp lemon or orange extract shopping list
- 1 can cherry pie filling (1 lb. 5 oz can) shopping list
How to make it
- In large mixing bowl cream together butter and sugar.
- Add eggs and flour.
- Mix in extracts and blend well.
- Spread batter into greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch pan.
- Cut squares of batter to make 28 squares. Spoon pie filling in center of each square. (during baking, batter puffs up around pie filling)
- Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until goldne brown. Cut into squares, sprinkle top with confectioners sugar. Cool, then remove squares from pan.
