How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350°F, lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
  • Cream together butter & sugar.
  • Add lemon juice and vanilla and blend well.
  • Beat in flour, baking powder and salt until mixture is crumbly.
  • Make a well in the flour mixture, and mix in milk to form a stiff dough. Do not knead!
  • Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface in a rectangle.
  • Spread butter over the dough.
  • Sprinkle with filling ingredients.
  • Starting at the wide edge, roll dough into a spiral, sealing the far edge.
  • Cut evenly into 12 rounds.
  • Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Drizzle with maple syrup and serve warm.
